Cerreta Candy Company is a family-owned business founded over 50 years ago. Camelback Mountain, Phoenix’s most prominent landmark, is located in the northern part of the valley, and looks just like a camel laying down, hence the name. Camelback Mountain has both beauty and folklore. The Praying Monk rock at the “head” of the “camel” happened, according to folklore, when a monk and his camel tried to cross the hot desert. The camel became too weary to continue, laid down, and the monk knelt to pray for it. Legend has it they were both turned to beautiful stone for all the world to remember. Science explains that the camel we see today was sculpted throughout the past 12 million years by wind, sun and rain, as well as natural uplifting forces that still occur today. Four generations of the Cerreta Candy business now oversee production & operations of their delightful chocolates and candy products. A family tradition since 1930, using only fresh ingredients and time honored candy making methods.
